Meals on Wheels

Providing a Helping Hand and a Hot Meal for the Homebound
Meals On Wheels delivers hot, nutritious meals primarily to frail, homebound persons over the age of 60 who are unable to cook or shop for themselves since 1968. Our clients benefit from daily health and wellness checks and ongoing client monitoring, including in-home visits by outreach workers. We deliver more than 200,000 meals within our community each year to our clients. Our program allows them to remain in their home and maintain their independence as long as possible. For many of our clients, the hot meal they receive may be the only meal they have for that day.
Each hot, nutritious meal delivered supplies 1/3 of the daily dietary allowance (RDA) needed to maintain a healthy diet for an adult 60+ years of age.
Funding:
Meals on Wheels receives partial funding by the County government as part of the Older Americans’ Act. The balance is made up through donations and fundraising efforts.
• Every dollar donated produces eight dollars worth of actual service to the senior population in our county.
• Independent audits confirm that $.95 of every dollar received goes directly into the program.
