Home Care Registry

Every once in a while, everyone needs a helping hand. We can help you find a dependable, trustworthy, and reasonably-priced caregiver.

Don’t hesitate to ask for help. With assistance from the right caregiver, you’ll be able to live more safely and independently in your home.

Who can use the Home Care Registry? If you’re a low-income senior (60 years or older) who lives in Contra Costa County, you can get a free referral from the Home Care Registry. What services can you help me find? We can refer you to a caregiver who can help with:

  • Ambulating
  • Bathing
  • Companion care
  • Dressing
  • Grocery shopping
  • Housework
  • Laundry
  • Light handiwork
  • Meal preparation
  • Oral hygiene and grooming
  • Toileting
  • Transportation
  • Respite care
  • Yardwork

Some caregivers can provide 12-hour and 24-hour shifts.

How much do the services cost?

The price varies, depending on type of care you need. Caregivers charge an hourly fee, but it’s usually lower than the rate charged by private care services. (Most caregivers charge between $15 and $20 an hour.) You’ll work out the fee with your caregiver.

Do you do background checks on the caregivers?

Yes, we verify each caregiver’s identity, check their references, and do a background check before we add them to the list. We want you to feel safe with anyone we recommend.

Is there a fee to use the Home Care Registry?

There is no fee to get a referral to a prescreened caregiver. After you find the right person, you’ll pay them an hourly rate (usually between $15 and $20 an hour).
