Since 1968, Meals on Wheels has been delivering hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors in Contra Costa County. We deliver more than 208,340 meals a year.
“My mother is 89 years old, lives alone and is unable to drive….Meals on Wheels is helping my mother to remain independent and live in her own home. And that means so much to her.”
— Cyril Ashe
When you receive a meal, you’re nourished by more than just the food. You’re nourished by an ongoing, personal connection with your volunteer Meals on Wheels drivers.

Who can receive meals?
We deliver meals to seniors (60 years or older) who are homebound, no longer driving, unable to prepare food themselves, and do not have caregiver that is paid to prepare meals. Meals are provided based on need, not on income.
We deliver meals to:
- Alamo
- Antioch
- Bay Point
- Clayton
- Concord
- Danville
- Lafayette
- Martinez
- Moraga
- Orinda
- Pacheco
- Pleasant Hill
- Pittsburg
- San Ramon
- Walnut Creek
When are meals delivered?
We deliver meals between 10:15 AM and 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Holiday and weekend meals are also available.
Your volunteer driver can deliver your meal to the door or bring it to the kitchen for you, whichever you prefer.
What are the meals like?
Most importantly, meals are nutritious. Each meal is designed by a Registered Dietitian and supplies 1/3 of daily dietary needs for an older adult.
Entrees include beef, chicken, pork, fish, and pasta. We can accommodate no-salt, low-salt, and sugar-free diets.
You’ll get a new menu at the beginning of each month, so you can see what meals will be delivered. See a sample menu (PDF)
How much do meals cost?
The cost of the meal is approximately $5.00. We suggest a donation. However, we will not turn anyone away who cannot contribute.
Do I have to be home when my meal is delivered?
Yes, you need to be home because we like to check-in with you when we deliver your meal. We just want to see how you’re doing and find out if you need anything.
Your meal will be delivered around the same time every day, so you’ll know when to expect us.
If you know that you’re not going to be home on a certain day, just call us in advance to let us know. We can arrange to drop off your meal with a neighbor.
Can I start to receive meals right away?
Usually, yes, but some areas have a waiting list. If your area has a waiting list, it may take a short time before you to start receiving meals. We’ll make every effort to start delivering meals to you as soon as possible.
